Interim Provost Lawrence Johnson has announced that Dr. Nelson C. Vincent, EdD, will serve as Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer of UC Information Technologies (UCIT), effective January 1, 2013.
Since his appointment to Interim Vice President and Chief Information Officer in the summer of 2012, Dr. Vincent has made tremendous strides in defining a vision and developing action plans for UCIT's agenda.
“My UCIT team hit the ground running in August,” said Dr. Vincent, “and we are determined to drive the necessary and cutting-edge technology projects and initiatives that will advance UC’s third century education and research agendas.”
Vincent, a UC alumnus, served as associate dean for research in the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services (CECH) from 2004-2012. In addition to managing research activities, he was responsible for leading the College’s Academic Information Technology services, resources and support. CECH is widely considered a trailblazer for its innovative and integrative use of technology in teaching, learning and research, and Dr. Vincent helped to build this national reputation from the bottom up.
Vincent has served on numerous technology-related working groups across the university including the Academic Technology Planning Committee, the Blue Ribbon Task Force on Academic Information Technology and the Blue Ribbon Sub-Task Force on IT Governance.
