E-Mail Features


UMS Home

Features

Only the Unified level of service includes E-Mail features. With E-Mail features, when you are traveling or simply off campus, you can call into the system and have all of your messages played back or have the system read your e-mail via text to speech conversion. Alternatively, you can forward your voice mail to your e-mail account and have your computer play back your voice mail. Thus, using one device - your phone, PC, or SmartPhone - you can retrieve both e-mail and voice mail.

You use the External E-Mail feature to add external e-mail servers to your UMS system.

  1. Access the UMS Web Provisioning interface at http://vmail.uc.edu/admin to manage UMS messaging options through a web browser.
  2. From the Main menu, click External Email. The "External Email" screen will appear.
  3. In the Session Name field, enter the name of the external mail server.
  4. In the Server field, enter the name of the external e-mail server.
  5. In the Username field, enter the name of a user who has access to this server.
  6. In the Password field, enter the password.
  7. Select POP3 or IMAP from the drop-down list.
  8. Click Save.
