E-Mail Account Deletion

UCMAIL (Exchange)  |  EMAIL(UConnect)

UCMAIL (Exchange)

  • Employee Status Account Review and Removal

We have implemented Automated Employee Status Audit procedures to review all accounts on Exchange and verify users' status as employees. Those who are not active employees at the University of Cincinnati are not eligible for Exchange accounts under the Microsoft License Agreement. Employee Status Audit procedures run daily and automatically disable user accounts that are not flagged as belonging to active employees. Disabled accounts are permanently deleted from Exchange at the end of each month.

A user entering inactive employee status and desirous of retaining an e-mail account must be sponsored, and the account paid for, by a university college or department. Sponsorship instructions are defined in Affiliate Service Offerings.

Emeriti are entitled to e-mail accounts and are included in the University of Cincinnati's Microsoft License agreement.

Contact the UCit Help Desk at 556-HELP (4357) for additional information.

  • Affiliate accounts

Affiliate accounts are removed at the request of their sponsors.

EMAIL (UConnect)

In Summer 2009, we have begun the migration to UConnect (MS Live, email.uc.edu). If a person's eligibility for student services has changed between June 2009 and Oct 2009, he or she may have lost access to university e-mail, or may lose access when we complete the migration to the new student e-mail system. Contact the UCit Help Desk at 556-HELP (4357) for additional information or assistance.

Account Review and Removal

We encourage alumni to contact the Alumni Association for uc.edu e-mail addresses.

UConnect e-mail is a service provided to active students of the University of Cincinnati. An e-mail account is subject to removal and deletion after a student has failed to register for any classes for five consecutive quarters.

(Please note that you can get free e-mail accounts from such providers as Gmail, Yahoo, and HotMail.)

If a student account is removed, it will be recreated once class registration has taken place. It will use the same userid and the default password.

Please note:  Once accounts are removed, we are unable to retrieve the data.

Please see our UConnect back-up policy.
