Blackboard Building Block Update Failure - 09/29/2014
A failed update to the Blackboard “Goals” building block resulted in system-wide issues this morning from approximately 7:50 to 10:15 a.m., including limited access to courses for both students and instructors.
As a result, students may have been unable to take tests or view grades, while instructors may not have been able to access the grade center, edit tests, create new course items or access certain items within a course. Additional issues included:
- Students/Staff/Instructors not being able to login to Blackboard
- Students/Instructors missing courses from the “My Courses" module
- Students seeing courses from Summer Semester 2014, or a course they had previously dropped (on-going)
- Instructors seeing users that have dropped from their course (on-going)
All issues have been resolved with the exception of those listed as “on-going.” We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We are committed to creating a stable online environment for student learning, therefore, we take this incident seriously.
