Ask for Yourself, Please

by Michelle Miles

A new service is available at UC that gives everyone the ability to utilize automated directory assistance: pick up the telephone, dial 556-4111, say the name of the person or department you are trying to reach and automatically connect to your calling destination. With automated directory assistance, you will not need a telephone book or access to the directory web site to reach someone at UC; all you need is a phone.

In testing the system, UCit requests that everyone use the system and ask for him- or herself before January 17. This will ensure that the automated attendant pronounces your name correctly before the system becomes fully operational. If your name is not recorded correctly, please contact Directory Services at 6-1917 to have the pronunciation corrected. Once you have spoken to us and given us the correct pronunciation of your name please allow a week for the change to be reflected in the system. If the system pronounces your name correctly, there is no need to contact Directory Services.

As of January 17, 2005, PhoneticOperator will answer all calls to "0" and 556-6000.
