Steger Student Life Center Goes Wireless

by Barb Renner

On a typical day at UC, approximately 1,700 different wireless users connect to the 400 plus wireless access points installed in campus buildings and on campus green spaces. A wireless cloud is spreading across the campus as colleges and organizations are realizing the benefits and conveniences provided by wireless network access for their students.

The Steger Student Life Center (SLC) is in the process of adding wireless network access in the Student Life office spaces and conference rooms located on floors four through seven, and in the student group meeting and work station spaces on the sixth floor. This will provide a convenient destination spot for student groups who need access to the Internet or UC network when the meet. Other popular wireless hot spots at the SLC are found at Starbucks, Subway, and the outdoor patio area between the SLC and TUC.

You can find a list of UC buildings and green spaces that provide wireless network access online.
