High Speed Home Internet Access Discount Program
for UC Students, Faculty, and Staff

by Amin Shafie

UCit is pleased to announce a new agreement with Time Warner Cable, and a new rate in our ongoing agreement with Cincinnati Bell, for discounted high-speed Internet access from home.

ZoomTown

UC and Cincinnati Bell have renewed their agreement to offer UC faculty, staff, and students a lower than standard monthly rate for Cincinnati Bell's ZoomTown high-speed Internet access service. New UC subscribers can receive ZoomTown for $34.95 per month, or for as low as $30 per month with additional promotions. This new agreement, effective through 30 June 2005, includes Fuse as the Internet Service Provider. For further information, please see [obsolete URL deleted].

Note that students without a Cincinnati Bell land line may still take advantage of ZoomTown service.

To order, please visit the web site, or call 513.397.5084. You also may visit these select Cincinnati Bell Locations:  Atrium 1, 580 Building, County Garage, Deerfield Town Center, and Hyde Park. Just bring in your UC ID for validation. No payroll deduction is required.

Free technical support will be available at 513.397.HELP.

Road Runner

The University of Cincinnati and Time Warner Cable have worked together to offer UC employees and UC students discount programs on Road Runner high-speed Internet access. Highlights of the programs are as follows.

Faculty and Staff

UC faculty and staff will receive a $10 per month discount off the standard rate, bringing the cost of Road Runner service to $34.95 per month. The cost of the service will be processed as a monthly payroll deduction.

The offer only applies to new Road Runner subscribers. However, the University may add one existing UC Road Runner subscriber to the discount program for every one new subscriber to Road Runner under the discount program. In February, we will announce a method for doing so.

Road Runner will provide technical support to UC users, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The offer is valid only in Time Warner Cable serviceable areas.

This discount offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other special offer or promotion that Road Runner is offering.

The term of this agreement will be for a period of one year, commencing on the actual date of installation of services. The cost of service will revert to the standard rate unless the UC contract with Time Warner Cable is renewed.

To sign up for this discount offer, please go to http://www.rrbusiness.com/login.asp. The discount code is bearcats.

After you sign up, a Road Runner representative will contact you within 48 hours to schedule installation. Installation will take place within seven days.

Students

UC students will receive a $12 discount per month off the standard rate, bringing the cost of Road Runner service to $32.95 per month, for the first nine months of service. After nine months, the cost of service will revert to the standard rate, unless the UC contract with Time Warner Cable is renewed or renegotiated.

The offer only applies to new Road Runner subscribers.
