BBB and the SSA Provide Guidance for Identity Protection
by Mary J. Clark
Why is identity fraud not a computer problem nearly as much as it is a paper problem?
Why might you be the greatest threat to your identity's security?
Leslie Kish, of the Better Business Bureau, and Susan Denny, of the Social Security Administration addressed these issues and more when they spoke at the University of Cincinnati on 13 September 2005, at the invitation of UCit and Human Resources OD & T (Organization Development & Training).
Ms. Kish's presentation, called "Consumer Identity Theft," focused on how to recognize identity theft and identity fraud, and what to do about it.
Ms. Denny advised, "To prevent identity theft, safeguard your Social Security number."
If you missed out on these valuable sessions, do not despair. The talks, which are full of useful information you can put to work to protect your identity today, remain available, via streaming video, by selection from UCit's Presentation Technologies web site.
