Get Dell Computers at a Discount
by Clarence Smith
| In partnership with Dell, the University of Cincinnati offers students, faculty, and staff access to technology at a discount. (Please see http://www.dell.com/epp/compare for more information on the program.) At http://www.dell.com/uc1, you will find recommended configurations from our colleges, promotions matching the Dell Home Sales (Dell affiliates') pages (i.e., for memory upgrades, shipping, etc.), and up to 12% off Dell's consumer pricing for Inspiron Notebooks and Dimension Desktops. |
UC colleges and departments may visit the University of Cincinnati Dell web page for institutional discounts which vary per product and configuration and greater than the standard Higher Education discounts Dell offers.
UCit DeskTop Services recommends the Optiplex GX620 Desktop with a flat panel display, D810-D610-D410 Latitude Laptops, and the Precision M70 Workstation. If you need assistance configuring a new desktop or laptop on the UC Dell web page, you may call the UCit Help Desk at 556-HELP (4357). Save even more per unit if your organization works together and places one order. For assistance on orders of ten units or more, please contact Clarence Smith (556-0039).
Our recommended programs feature Dell's business-class laptops, Latitude, the same technology leveraged for academic and administrative use at the University. Latitude notebooks are designed to be flexible, reliable, and stable mobile systems. Latitudes are designed to provide you with the lowest possible total cost of ownership; they have longer technological lifecycles than Dell's consumer laptops. This means that if you decide to upgrade your CD-ROM to a DVD/CDRW combo drive in a couple of years, or if you want to add a docking station, or port replicator to your system, such upgrades will be compatible across the Latitude product family. Latitudes are ideal for use in a highly-networked environment and for users who want standard and relevant technology at the lowest available price.
Whether you choose a consumer model or an institutional model, our Dell program offers institutional technical support rather than the commercial queue - you have access to the same support staff that the University itself accesses.
If you have any questions concerning desktop or laptop computing at UC, please contact the UCit Help Desk at 556-HELP (4357).
