Coming this Fall: UC Mobile Enters Residence Halls

by Diana Noelcke

Following the trend of other college campuses, UC Housing is removing the traditional residence hall room phone. They will provide hallway phones for emergency calls only. This decision opens an opportunity to expand and expose students to UC Mobile offerings. UCit and Campus Housing have partnered to bring a new pilot program to on-campus housing students.

Beginning September 2007, all UC Campus Housing Students will receive a free pre-paid wireless phone with service. The pre-paid phone will include 150 local minutes, unlimited incoming text messages, 50 outgoing text messages, and 500k of data per month. Each student will receive the offer as long as he or she resides in UC campus housing. Each student will have the opportunity to upgrade to a post-paid UC Mobile Bearcat plan. Each student that upgrades a free pre-paid phone to a Bearcat plan receives a $10 a month credit toward his or her  selected upgraded Bearcat plan.

Watch for more details at Orientation and throughout the summer.
