UC Flex Improved
by Mark Young
The University of Cincinnati continues working to improve the Flex system and the infrastructure that supports it. Over the next few months UC will be doing a SAP ERP 6.0 upgrade. During this upgrade we will be transitioning from IBM p5-570 servers to new IBM Power6 processor based System p570 servers. This will give our technicians more flexibility to serve the Flex system better and move UC to a greener computer environment. Part of this upgrade includes upgrading to DB2 9 which should deliver improved performance and reliability, while giving UC access to a number of leading edge features. The cutover date to production for this upgrade is scheduled for middle to early June.
IBM recently highlighted the university’s infrastructure for our Flex environment in a case study that was published on ibm.com site. This case study describes our current and future infrastructure for Flex.
