E-Reserves Implemented
by Dorothy Byers, Head of the Engineering Library
Beginning this quarter, University Libraries offers electronic reserve service in all libraries. Electronic Reserves (E-Reserves) enhance traditional library reserves by by putting course-related materials online, thus making them available to faculty and students 24/7.
For the management of E-Reserves, University Libraries purchased a software product called ERes from Docutek, Inc. Staff members in each library have trained to use the software, and to scan reserve materials into Portable Document Format (PDF) for inclusion on the web. We can also include other file types such as Word documents and html files - in E-Reserves.
You can directly access E-Reserves at http://eres.uc.edu, or click on the "Reserves" Quicklink on the University Libraries web site. In addition, every Blackboard 6 course has an E-Reserves button that offers students direct access to E-Reserves for that particular course.
Faculty who want to submit material this quarter for E-Reserves may contact library staff. You can find lead contacts at each library listed at http://engrlib.uc.edu/eres/contacts.html.
For more information, you may pick up flyers on E-Reserves and copyright from a library circulation desk, or visit a comprehensive web site on E-Reserves and copyright at http://www.engrlib.uc.edu/eres/.
