Electronic Classroom Support Services (ECSS) has added another dimension to the classroom services it provides. Historically, ECSS has maintained the equipment in generally scheduled classrooms only, but starting last quarter, ECSS supports some college controlled spaces, as well. A fee-based service contract includes preventive maintenance, repair of multimedia equipment and accessories, and in-room equipment orientation training sessions, as well as emergency telephone support during normal business hours. Here are some of the services available:
|
|
ECSS staff install new projector in Rieveschl
|
- Thoroughly clean the instructor workstation cabinet
- Dust and clean all components (PC, document camera, VCR, etc.)
- Vacuum and clean filters to avoid overheating of equipment
- Clean projection screens
|
- Adjust projector settings and realign for optimal viewing
- Clean and re-lamp overhead projectors
- Test all components for full functionality
- Repair document cameras, data projectors, tracking cameras, remote controls, VCRs, computer and TV monitors, and other electronics
- Secure equipment with cables and alarms to deter theft
ECSS performs the preventive maintenance tasks during quarter breaks for a flat fee billed on a per-room basis. Weekly system checks decrease the likelihood of failure during class. Repair services are billed at an hourly rate, plus the cost of parts. ECSS will provide an estimate in advance, and at no charge if the repair work is performed by ECSS.
The College of Engineering recently signed a service agreement, and ECSS is currently negotiating with both the College of Business and The Department of Human Resources to perform similar services. As word of this service spreads, ECSS expects to secure contracts with more colleges on campus. For more information, please contact Jane Combs at (513) 556-1907.
