GETit Rocks

by Rhonda Orzali

The GETit (pronounced GET I. T.) system, which UCit rolled out to the UC community on 1 March 2004, has proven to be huge success. This easy-to-use, web-based application permits UC faculty and staff to order most UCit products and services online, dramatically reducing front-end processing time.

UCit highly values Input and suggestions from those attending training. New features UCit is adding to GETit in the near future include the following:

  • Order Title - Users will be able to title each order, making it easy to refer to any particular one.
  • Approver Selection - UCit will categorize approvers by department, making it easier for a user to choose the appropriate approver for any individual department.
  • Budget Numbers - UCit will add CUFS numbers to the confirmation of each order so that the order initiator can have a complete snapshot of the order.
Currently, the system offers over 130 products and services, including the following:

- Cable TV - Cellular Phones - Email Accounts
- LAN Services - Long Distance Network Connections
- Pagers - Telephones - Training
- Voice Mail

To date, 220 individuals have used the system to place 1,500 orders containing more than 2,500 individual products and services.

We are receiving very positive comments from our user community. For example:

"I just love GETit, it is so much quicker and gives one so much more information. THANK YOU!"

"I'm sure you and your staff are very proud of GETit."

"I just previewed the new GETit system - really neat! And I think pretty self-explanatory for new users. Don't think training will be necessary. Congratulations."

"I wanted to take a few minutes to thank you for the wonderful GETit program...Not only does it save time, but it is VERY efficient."

To use GETit, a customer logs in using his or her remote access account, and places products or services (or both) into a shopping cart. At checkout, the individual (or his or her designated approver) approves the order. (Please see http://www.uc.edu/documents/approverform.pdf to request approver status.) Upon validation of the budget numbers, the system routes the order, via email, to the UCit Business Office. Business Office personnel enter the appropriate information into the UCit billing system, and GETit sends the order to the appropriate UCit individual or supervisor for fulfillment.

GETit provides order-tracking capabilities, via the Review Requests link on the GETit site. Please note that with the rollout of the system on 1 March 2004, GETit has replaced the online A502s and will replace the hard copy A502 and A503 service requests on 1 July 2004.
