Future plans call for the CERF ring to have redundant connections to the Ohio Third Frontier Network, which can provide faculty and researchers with ultra high speed access, through OARnet, to the Internet and Internet2. Currently, the timeframe for the connections is the second quarter of 2004.

Student requests for computer connectivity rose sharply for Fall Quarter 2003, and ResNet technicians activated a total of 3,118 computer jacks in the undergraduate dormitories. This represents connectivity for 98% of undergraduate occupancy, as compared to approximately 85% connectivity in Fall 2002. These figures support the national trend of today's students deeming "being wired" as a necessity in their daily lives.
