One-Stop IT Ordering Coming Soon

GETit (get IT) is a web-based application whereby the UC community will be able to order UCit products and services. Now in the pilot stages, the new online ordering system is nearing its release.
The pilot program kicked off in mid-February. Eighty UC staff members are testing the application, giving valuable feedback, and recommending future enhancements. To date, members of the pilot group have placed 361 orders. We thank the pilot group for their support; their valuable input is helping to make this application better for everyone.
There are currently 113 active products and services in the system. Below is just a sampling of the products and services, which are currently featured in GETit:
- Cable TV
- Cellular Phones
- Email Accounts
- LAN Services
- Long Distance
- Network Connections
- Pagers
- Software
- Telephones
- Training
- Voice Mail
UCit will continue to add products and services.
To use GETit, a customer logs in using his or her remote access account, and places products or services or both into a shopping cart. At check out, the individual (or his or her designated approver) approves the order. Upon validation of the budget numbers, the system routes the order, via email, to the UCit Business Office. The Business Office enters the appropriate information into the UCit billing system, and forwards the order to the appropriate UCit individual or supervisor to complete the order.
GETit provides order-tracking capabilities via email notifications and links so customers can review pending requests and orders approved.
GETit will:
- Replace paper A502s, A503s, and A504s
- Centralize products and services for one stop shopping
- Provide detailed product information and pricing
- Reduce the processing time of each order, by
- Increasing order accuracy
- Standardizing order information
UCit expects to offer GETit to the University community in early 2004. We will replace the online A502 in the first quarter of the new year.
We gladly offer training to any current online A502 users not already included in the pilot. When they are trained and are comfortable with the program, we will make it available to all UC faculty and staff.
