The staff of Governmental Relations & University Communications, which includes the Academic Health Center office of public relations and communications, is a talented, dedicated group of high-performing professionals, working together to provide consistently excellent public relations and communications services and counsel for the university community.
Some of the divisions key accomplishments include:
- Coordinating the visit of presidential candidate Barack Obama at a rally on campus on February 25, 2008 and again on November 2, 2008.
- Hosting Chancellor Eric Fingerhut and his Community Conversations tour in May 2008 to discuss the University System of Ohio's Strategic Plan.
- Hosting a forum with Senator Sherrod Brown to discuss the need for a systemic approach to education.
- Promoting national media coverage of UC research including PACE designations, Solar House and Aerospace Award.
- By promoting UC as a leader in STEM education, helped to secure a grant for a STEMM School and STEM K-8 program in partnership with Cincinnati Public Schools through the Partnership for Continued Learning.
- Partnering with Downtown Cincinnati Inc. to display UC branding and event information on the Fountain Square video board
- Partnering with the Cincinnati Zoo to provide special events and opportunities for UC students, faculty and staff.
Mission
The division will provide consistently excellent public relations services and counsel to enhance public approval and support of the university.
