Gregory J. Vehr is Vice President for Governmental Relations and University Communications at the University of Cincinnati.
A graduate of Miami University (Oxford) and St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati, Vehr was appointed by the University in 1999 after service as Chief of Staff to the Ohio Treasurer of State's office and as Assistant Secretary of State and Chief of Staff in the Ohio Secretary of State's office.
Vehr currently manages federal, state, and local governmental relations activities and led the effort to open a governmental relations office in Columbus. He is responsible for the university's marketing, public relations, branding and communications functions. Vehr led UC's branding effort in 2001 which is credited with playing a significant role in the university's continually improving reputation among many of its audiences. Vehr also initiated the development of communications and governmental relations strategic plans. He also created a collaborative communications environment by involving more communications professionals at UC in the decision-making and information-sharing processes.
The Governmental Relations and University Communications division expanded in 2008 to include management of the academic health center office of public relations and communications. Vehr led the 2009 UC Fine Arts Fund campaign which exceeded all prior goals. He participates on committees associated with the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, United Way, and the Corporation for Findlay Market (Cincinnati's premier public market).
