Accessibility
On the Web, accessibility means that any person, including someone with disabilities, can obtain the information they need from the pages in your site. Anything that prevents a person from obtaining needed information makes that content inaccessible.
The University of Cincinnati's mission is to provide a functional, accessible, interactive Web experience for all users. All UC Web developers are required to adhere to the Web accessibility guidelines as set forth by the Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board (Access Board) as part of Section 508 of UC Web Communications & Design Standards. Tips for Creating Accessible Web Pages
Accessibility begins with good design. Make your Web pages simple, well-organized and consistent, and you will assist all people visiting your site. For your convenience, we have also provided a list of various resources for accessibility as well as facts and laws regarding accessibility.
Recommended Assistive Technology
Although a variety of access technologies are available for use with the internet, we recommend using Microsoft internet Explorer 5.0 or later to provide you with the highest level of browser accessibility.
If you are blind or visually impaired, these pages were designed to be accessible with most industry-standard screen readers. However, we recommend JAWS for Windows version 3.31 or later for the best speech synthesis.
If you have difficulties accessing Web pages hosted by the University of Cincinnati, please contact the UC Web Team.
