                    Natalie Kohne
Junior, Electronic Media Major with CCM

We recently interviewed Natalie Kohne, At-Large Senator for student government, as part of our Women’s History Month profile series.  We are excited to share her illuminating responses with the UC community.

UCWC: Which trait of your mother's would you most like to inherit?

NKI would like to inherit my mother's character. If I could be as fun, caring, and loving as she is when I am older, and a mom, then I will have accomplished much…She has taught me to love with all of my heart, that caring is the best gift there is…

UCWC: How do you presently contribute to bringing generations of women together?

NK:  I help volunteer on the UCWC advisory board committee where we do various things to better women and our community. I also work with many inspiring individuals through student government where I am currently an At-Large Senator.

It is great to see women in different stages of leadership roles throughout generations. The roles start out with some first step basic leadership as freshman interns and they just continue all the way up the chain to President Zimpher.

UCWC: Where do you see your generation contributing to the empowerment of women?

NK: I think that more women will continue to take on high leadership roles in the work force. I think that we will have the ability, if everyone chooses to, to have positive influence through the way we are seen and portrayed in the media.

UCWC: What three accomplishments are you most proud of?
NK:

Looking for the best in people. I have faith that everyone can do great things. Sometimes they just need the guidance and encouragement.

Living life to its fullest. Some people go throughout life never feeling like they have done all the things they wish they had. I'm not saying that I have done everything, because there is much more that I hope to do throughout my years. However, at age 20 I can say that in these years I have done most everything that has sparked my interest. I've gone out and lived life! I never tell myself that I can't accomplish something. I set out and try as hard as I can to do it.

Taking on leadership roles and trying to make things better not only for myself, but for my peers. I have taken on various roles at my campus that are leadership roles or advisory committee roles where I am able to help make decisions that affect students.

UCWC: Discuss something interesting about yourself.

NK: I am very goal and dream oriented. I set high goals and have dreams that I would like to see accomplished. I am starting with the end in mind. I have no clue where I will be in life after college and through part of the middle. However, I know that I would like it to lead me to later becoming a professor at a college where I can pass on what I've learned to students just like my teachers have done for me.

The UC Women’s Center is proud to recognize Natalie Kohne’s contributions to campus women.
