Ewaniki Moore
Assistant Director of African American Cultural Research Center
With UC Community since 2002
Ewaniki Moore got her start as a student volunteer in the same center she now serves as Assistant Director for, the African American Cultural Research Center! We took some time to talk to Moore about what motivates her as a woman in campus leadership.
Moore is most proud of completing her MBA, being crowned first Ms. Kuamka 1999, and beginning at AACRC as an involved student and moving up to become Assistant Director of the center. When asked what she wishes she knew then that she knows now, Moore offered the following: “I wished someone would have told me earlier to be a better steward of finances. Students watch the credit cards!”
Moore currently contributes to bringing generations of women together by giving opportunities for total attention through programming and workshops through EPS and the AACRC. The creation of the Lambda Society, an honorary for African American women on campus, is evidence of some of the programming Moore has spearheaded while on campus. Her private life also finds her participating with the women’s ministry in her church to bring all generations of women together in spiritual fellowship.
Moore is currently excited by the strides African American women and women of color are making on the campus. “The women are stepping up to their place gathering the skills they need to succeed.” Professionally, Moore strives to adhere to the words of Linda Bates Parker, Director of Career Development Center, who often reminds her to “Better her best!” Moore defines her purpose as a woman by first striving to represent what God says a woman should be and what familial women have taught and secondly, always holding herself in the highest regard and with the utmost respect. “I always want to do the very best I can do in all spheres.” Moore wants to be able to “teach other younger women what a woman should be and in doing so also teach the men.”
We asked Moore what was making her smile today and she gleefully replied: “Today’s smile influenced by strong connection to God and my handsome fiancé who is a welcome enhancement and addition to my life.”
The UC Women’s Center is proud to salute Ewaniki Moore’s contributions to campus
