Women’s Center Intern and Volunteer Opportunities
Bulletin Board Intern
This internship would put together pre-packaged bulletin board kits for RAs to use in residence halls. The packaged bulletin boards will be on a variety of topics related to women’s issues, feminism, and social justice. Based on the intern’s own interest area, topics will left up to the interns interest and discretion but will need be researched. Students should be able to work independently, organized and creative.
Social Media Intern
Would assist Program Coordinator for Marketing and Communications with updating Women’s Center blog with timely stories, articles, news clips that would be of interest to UC Women’s Center constituents and the campus at large. May assist with other UC Women’s Center activism and marketing programs as needed. Ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, clear and concise writing style, familiarity with UC publications/web standards and would have experience working with: Facebook groups, profiles, and fan pages, Twitter, and Blogspot.
Would assist WC staff with staging annual campus production of Vagina Monologues. Responsibilities may include (but are not limited to): Organizing auditions, distributing monologues to potential actors, coordinating rehearsal schedules, coordinating distribution of fliers and handbills, coordinating house the night of show (ushers, tickets, playbills, etc), and other tasks as needed. Ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, project management experience, a clear bias for action, and basic familiarity with theater production.
C-Ring Program Volunteers
C-Ring programming starts in October and ends in April. A volunteer can start right away. This volunteer must be committed to the Women’s Center and advocacy for women. Requirements: Will help market the program to UC colleges and advisors, as well as the logistics of the program and banquet. Student should be able to take directions, be organized and have clear communications skills.
This intern would develop a database to help the Women’s Center track student involvement in the Women’s Center, as well as student development in these programs. Requirements: Experience developing databases and compiling reports based on database information.
Throughout the year, the Women’s Center sponsors numerous programs and events that call for extra sets of hands. If you are interested in helping out once-in-a-while, based on your availability, consider signing up for as a project-based volunteer.
