Services
PRIMARY CARE
- Primary care includes diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses, health promotion, disease prevention, health maintenance, counseling, and patient education.
ALLERGY INJECTIONS
- Allergy desensitization maintenance, prescribed by personal provider, can be continued. UHS does not initiate allergy injections. Antigenic extract and written instructions from personal provider can be submitted to University Health Services. Serums are retained at UHS. To ensure against reactions after an allergy injection, a wait of 20 minutes is required. Nearly all shock-like reactions occur within this time and emergency equipment is available.
PHARMACY
- A Pharmacy is available at the Lindner clinic to fill prescriptions prescribed by Ohio providers. The pharmacists, in addition to filling prescriptions, will discuss proper use of the medication. To keep prices low, payment is required at the time of dispensing. Contact lens may be also be purchased at our pharmacy, however, the current contact wearer must present a prescription from an eye doctor. Pharmacy pick-up also available at the Holmes Clinic.
WOMEN'S HEALTH
- The Woman’s Health Clinic provides examination, treatment, counseling service and follow-up in regard to routine gynecological care and contraception. This service is by appointment only.
DERMATOLOGY
- Services are available to students only by referral from a UHS provider. The Dermatology Clinic provides examination, treatment, and follow-up for routine skin problems requiring dermatology services. This service is by appointment only.
CLINICAL LABORATORY
- Some tests can be performed in the UHS laboratory. A reference laboratory is used when specialized testing is required.
X-RAY SERVICE
UHS has a digital x-ray machine. X-rays are reviewed by our doctor. A staff radiologist at UC Health will provide a final interpretation.
SPORTS MEDICINE
- The UHS provides team physicians for Bearcat teams. Care for sports-related and orthopedic problems is also available for all students.
MENTAL HEALTH CLINIC
- Evaluation and mental health treatment (including psychiatry) is available by appointment.
