$1,500 Prescription Limit

Pharmacy icon

With your UC Student Health Insurance plan you get $1,500 dollars worth of prescription benefits per 2011 - 2012 academic year.

  • This just applies to prescriptions and is totally independent of other medical expenses that you may incur.

  • The academic year starts the first day of fall semester to the day prior to next years fall semester.

  • The amount of prescription dollars used is the total cost of medication minus the co-pay you pay each time.

  • The total cost of the medication is on the receipt you give the cashier, as well as the receipt in your prescription bag.

For example: Your prescription total cost is $100.00, you pay a $30.00 co-pay for that medication, you use $70.00 of your $1,500 prescription each time you fill that prescription.

  • If you are on monthly maintenance medication(s) that are costly (i.e. that use up $80.00 or more of your benefit every month), the best time to start planning to maximize your prescription benefit is as soon as possible.

  • Regularly discuss potential cost savings measures with your provider or pharmacist throughout the year.
