University of Cincinnati Upward Bound Program
School Year Program Rules and Regulations

  1. Students should arrive on campus no later than 8:45 a.m. on Saturdays.

  2. Ninety percent (90%) or above attendance is expected for all Upward Bound classes, tutoring, and activities.

  3. Students are not allowed to eat or drink during classes and tutoring.

  4. Students are not allowed to assemble in the vending machine area during tutoring and classtime.

  5. “Rapping” is not allowed during and between Upward Bound classes, tutoring, and activities. Remember – there is a time and a place for everything.

  6. When using the telephone in the Upward Bound office, students must ask permission from a staff member and will be allotted a maximum of three minutes for emergency calls only.

  7. Students are expected to dress appropriately. Shirts, blouses, hats, or pants with inappropriate emblems and language on them will not be permitted. Hats are not to be worn in the building.

  8. Students are expected to pass through the hallways quietly and orderly on their way to classes and tutoring. Running, screaming, and other inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. Remember, University of Cincinnati classes are being held in the same buildings and therefore, we must show the same kind of courtesy that we would expect to receive from them or anyone else. We have been reported to the campus police for excessive noise and unacceptable behavior and we want to prevent this from happening again.

  9. Students are allowed only on floors that house Upward Bound program classes, tutoring, and activities.

  10. No visitors are allowed in the classrooms. If you bring visitors to class with you, they will be asked to leave the building. Visitors who want to eat lunch will do so at their own expense.

  11. We are expecting all students to come to classes and tutoring with an attitude of study and all necessary academic supplies: books, paper, pencil, etc.

  12. Students are expected to respect all staff members. This includes tutors, teachers, and administrative staff.

  13. Small children should not be brought to the campus. Upward Bound has no babysitting facilities and cannot accommodate the needs of infants.
