Steve
Sunderland, Ph.D., Director of Peace Village and Professor of
Educational Foundations and Peace Studies, at the College of Education,
Criminal Justice, and Human Services at the University of Cincinnati,
is the recipient of the Gandhi, King,Ikeda Award as announced
by Dr. Lawrence E. Carter, Jr., Dean, of Martin Luther King, Jr.,
International Chapel, Morehouse College.
The
award will be presented at the National Underground Railroad Freedom
Center Museum’s awards ceremony "celebrating the showing
of the "Gandhi, King, Ikeda: A Legacy of Building Peace"
exhibition on Thursday, December 1, 2005, 11:30 a.m.-12:30p.m.
According to Dr. Carter: "The award will be conferred upon
Dr. Sunderland for his distinguished commitment and leadership
of American education for peace. Sunderland will also be recognized
for his extraordinary effort for healing and building community
on the heels of the civil unrest in Cincinnati."
