Dating can be an exciting, fun experience. It can also be a nerve wracking time that some people just don't look forward to. If you dread the traditional date, you might want to consider UC's Annual Speed Dating event.
I watched as UC students tried searching for a new relationship. Ladies took a seat while the men rotated around all four tables. Everyone put on a smile, discussed seemingly interesting issues, and did their best to impress potential partners. This new thing Cincinnati is calling, "Speed Dating," helps take the awkwardness out of the initial date. Each male gets three minutes to talk to a female and then switches to the left. If there is chemistry, numbers can be exchanged. On the flip side, when conversation seems dull, that three minute limit becomes a blessing!
Last year was the first ever Speed Dating event at UC. Friday Night Live presented it without knowing what to expect. It ended up bringing in a large number of participants and finished successfully. That's when Friday Night Live decided to make it happen annually. It gives students an opportunity to meet fresh faces without putting too much pressure on anyone. After seeing all of the action, I would say some new relationships might have evolved from the evening activities.
