UC's School of Social Work has offices in French Hall, one of the first buildings completed as part of UC's current master plan. The school was established in 1978, but traces its roots to 1923 when UC and the Community Chest joined forces to offer a social work program within UC's sociology department.
Today, the school offers BSW and MSW degrees, with graduate concentrations in Direct Practice (with specialization in child and family services, health and gerontology or mental health) or in Social Welfare Administration. The entrance to the School of Social Work is located on the atrium side of French Hall, near the northeast corner of the building. It is only a short walk away from University Avenue Garage.
