The word "mews" derives from the Latin verb mutare , "to change" -- fitting for a campus where transformation is our purpose.

The narrow space between Swift and Rhodes halls (left) and the Steger Student Life Center (right) has been named "The Mews," calling to mind the multi-use functionality of 17th and 18th century European urban spaces. Historically, "mews" referred to courtyards surrounded by stables, falconries and living quarters. Our Mews are surrounded by living and dining spaces, offices, classrooms and labs.

Angled exterior surfaces lend visual interest to a passage spanned by skywalks between Steger Student Life Center and Swift Hall.
