Research at the University of Cincinnati is a generator of economic potential and payoff. Locally, regionally, statewide and nationally, industry is supporting UC research as an investment in the future. And, in return, UC research is not only benefiting established firms but also helping to launch entrepreneurial start-ups.
In October 2009, the university announced an all-time high in terms of research funding: $378 million.
No surprise in that, since UC ranks No. 18 in the nation among public research-intensive universities based on National Science Foundation data on federal research expenditures. This No. 18 ranking is an improvement over the 2006 ranking of No. 28 and is an important indicator of the amount and quality of UC research.
