Women's Organizations at UC
The UC Women’s Center has a long history at the University of Cincinnati. Established in 1978 as Women’s Programs and Services, the office served as a referral center for female students. The small, initial staff connected students and staff to resources and events that were off-campus. Over the years, the Center’s staff grew and the office’s programs and opportunities grew with it.
Established in 1974, the Department of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies offers an undergraduate degree, and MA degree, a joint MA/JD, and certificate opportunities. The Department hosts visiting professors, offers research and travel grants, augments library holdings, and honors outstanding women alumni.
Sister Circle
Sister Circle is a staff and faculty support group that encourages professional development, personal empowerment, friendship and success among Black women on campus and across organizational lines. Bring your lunch and meet other sisters across campus. Sister Circle encourages and welcomes participation from every African American woman at UC, to the degree that you are able. For more information, including meeting times and locations, please contact Connie Moody at 556-1222.
The Rowe Center provides a focal point for women engineering students to access supports for success in classes, on co-op work assignments and beyond. The Center coordinates with existing programs in the College of Engineering, the University, and the broader community to support students.
Women’s Faculty Association of the Department of Pediatrics
The overall goal of Women’s Faculty Association (WFA) is to promote career development, advancement and recognition of women in the Department of Pediatrics. The WFA also provides an opportunity for women faculty and fellows to meet each other, network and participate in informal mentoring activities. These opportunities include career development seminars for both male and female faculty, as well as fellows, pediatric residents and graduate students.
