Women's Risk Needs Assessment

Revalidation Results

The revalidation research took place between 2009 and 2013 in seven jurisdictions: 1) Missouri (prison: N=53; probation: N=85; pre-release: N=187); 2) Rhode Island (prison: N=69; pre-release: N= 210); 3) Iowa (probation: N=316); 4) Minnesota (probation: N=51); 5) Kentucky (pre-release: N=35); 6) Ohio (prison: N=347; pre-release: N=169; probation: N=102); and 7) California (prison: N=604).

The first purpose of this research was to validate the original WRNAs on larger samples. The two tables below present the results of the revaliation of the original probation WRNA and WRNA-T.

The second purpose of this study was to refine and improve the predictive validity of the assessments. These refined assessment must then also undergo validation. The two tables below present the results for the revised probation WRNAs.

These analyses were also conducted in prison settings. The next four tables report the results of the revalidation of the original prison WRNAs and the validation of the revised prison WRNAs.

As the use of the WRNAs continues to spread to larger jurisdictions, revalidation of the revised WRNAs will continue. Additional research results and publications will be reported as they become available.
