Nelson Vincent, Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer, leads the university’s enterprise technology organization and works with the university’s distributed IT organizations to achieve an optimal balance of standard and unique technologies and services. Vincent oversees the design and delivery of eLearning and research technologies, enterprise applications systems and services, networking and telecommunications, information security, data center operations, and user support training and outreach.

He and his team dedicate their time and talents to building and cultivating inclusive partnerships at all levels—with on-the-ground technologists, researchers, faculty members, students and the community.

The IT@UC community created Canopy, the university’s eLearning ecosystem comprised of people, processes and tools for eLearning excellence. The National Science Foundation has awarded nearly $1 million to IT staff and faculty researchers to support ultra-high bandwidth cyberinfrastructure, cyber engineering and education.

Before serving as CIO, Vincent served as Associate Dean for Research, Administrative Services and Outreach in the College of Education, Criminal Justice and Human Services, where he is an associate professor educator. He serves on the Board of Trustees for iSPACE, (interactive STEM Programs and Career Exploration), the Arlitt Child and Family Research and Education Center and the Hughes STEM High School Local School Based Decision Making Committee. Vincent is also involved in several other community organizations, including the Greater Cincinnati STEM Collaborative.
