John Abruzzo, Training Specialist
Tell us a little bit about yourself. I’m a Training Specialist for UC Flex Business Core Systems. I’ve enthusiastically been with UC since November 2014. A recent transplant to Cincinnati, I love all that the city and the university have to offer. Go Bearcats!
What is your favorite thing about training? The best part of my job is meeting others from around UC in my classes.
Share an interesting fact about yourself. I’m a huge baseball fan! Go Reds!
Jordan Menefield, Training Specialist
Tell us a little bit about yourself. Born and raised in Cincinnati, I graduated from UC in 2011 with a degree in English literature and cultural studies and earned my master’s in instructional design and performance technology from Franklin University. Before coming to UC, I worked at the Cincinnati Art Museum, where I implemented training for employee development.
What is your favorite thing about training? What I love about this career is that it allows me to meet new people and learn how they retain information. For me, it is fun to think of creative ways to teach a diverse learning audience.
Share an interesting fact about yourself. Before coming to UC for my undergraduate, I studied to be a pastry chef for two years at both Johnson and Wales in North Carolina and Midwest Culinary Institute in Cincinnati.
Gloria Riker, Senior Training Specialist
Matt Robinson, Training Specialist
Tell us a little bit about yourself. I was born and raised in Cincinnati and a great majority of my family has had a relationship with UC dating back to the late 1960s. I graduated from the University of Louisville in 2008 with a B.S. in theatre arts. At my previous company, I was closely involved in the training of new hires and current employees on existing and new business processes. Outside of work, I enjoy watching sports and spending time with my wife and one-year-old daughter.
What is your favorite thing about training? My favorite thing about training is the opportunity to create an exciting and informative learning environment for all those who participate. Training is essential for most job functions and is a necessity for career development and growth.
Share an interesting fact about yourself. During my senior year of college, I had the opportunity to travel abroad to Senegal and study performing arts and cultural diversity. After graduation, I moved to Brooklyn and worked on various shows and productions as an audio and lighting technician. Although New York City is domestic, it's almost like a foreign country with its huge diverse population. It was a great experience to live there, however I am very happy to be back in my hometown of Cincinnati and extremely thrilled to be a part of the training team for the Catalyst project.
