Do you sell computers?
Yes, but without hard drives or operating systems.
When are the public sales?
The public sales take place on the first Saturday of each month from 9 am to 1 pm.
Can I purchase something at the public sale and pick it up later?
Yes. You can pick items up within the next business week between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm.
Is there a mailing list for the public sales?
Yes. Give us a call or ask about it at the next sale.
What forms payment do you accept at the public sales?
We accept credit and debit cards and personal checks only. No cash.
Can UC departments select items during the public sale?
No. UC departments can only select items on Tuesdays between 8 am and 12 pm.
How do you purchase an item at the public sale?
Most items will have a red and white tag on them. You pull the white tag off and bring it to the counter when you’re ready to check out. If an item only has a red tag, someone else has already claimed it. Smaller items will have orange price stickers. You must bring those items with you to the counter.
Can items be viewed or reserved ahead of the public sales?

What items can I send to Surplus?

When are you open for department viewings?
We are open for department viewings from 8 am to 12 pm on Tuesdays.
Are the departments charged money for items from Surplus?
No. Departments are not charged for items selected from Surplus
Can departments have items delivered?
Large items can be delivered, and there is no charge for that service.
What information do I need to provide to receive items for Surplus?
All you need to do is bring your UCID with you, and we will take care of the rest.
Can students pick up items for use in their university departments?
Yes, but only on department days with advance written authorization. Professors are required to send us an email for every visit before the student arrives

Do you recycle toner cartridges and ink?
Yes. We accept all printing supplies (full, empty, and used cartridges, etc.)
Should we send our scrap metal items to Surplus?
Yes. We recycle all metal types.
Do you recycle batteries?
Yes. We recycle all types of batteries.
