Federal Direct Loan Information

Students or borrowers can cancel any loan at anytime before the loan is posted to the student's account. Once the loan is posted borrowers have 14 days to cancel all or part of any loan. Funds already disbursed to the borrower via refund direct deposit or check cannot be returned to the lender until those funds are returned to the school by returning the refund check or making a payment (on-line or via check).

To cancel your loans before they are posted contact your respective One Stop Student Service Center at:

After the 14 days returning loan funds is at the discretion of the school. The University of Cincinnati will return any credit balance to the lender upon request provided the request is made within 120 days of the date of disbursement. Please keep in mind that we must process the request within 120 days so please make requests within 110 days to insure adequate time for processing. Associated fees, if any, will be reduced in proportion to the amount returned.

Borrowers can also return a loan made within 120 days directly to the loan servicer and receive the same benefits of reduced associated fees.
