Education

Dr. Scarborough earned a doctorate in counseling psychology from the Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas, a master's in counseling from Boston College and a bachelor's degree in psychology from the College of the Holy Cross. She also has a master's in Health Services Administration from Xavier University. 

Professional Interests

Dr. Scarborough returned to UC's Counseling and Psychological Services as the Director in 2017 after one-year as a psychology intern in 1999. She served as a staff psychologist at Xavier University for twelve years before returning to UC. Dr. Scarborough is committed to creating a Community of Care at UC, where the health and well-being of all students is a shared vision among staff, faculty, parents and students. Maintaining equitable and accessible counseling services and building an inclusive system of mental wellness is a priority for her. She is focused on building collaborative relationships with internal and external partners; creating efficiencies to strengthen a system for the mental wellness of all UC students. Organized teamwork and care and respect in all relationships are values that Dr. Scarborough adheres to and drive CAPS vision of quality, student-centered, value-based services, and outcomes that support academic success.

Approach to Therapy

Trained from a systems perspective, Dr. Scarborough believes the systems in which we live shape the ways we see our world and the options available to us. As a therapist, she gives students a safe place to process how experiences have impacted their lives, helping students co-create possibilities to maximize change.

Hobbies

She enjoys running, yoga and traveling with her family. She plans to train her Golden Retriever, Cali to become a therapy dog this summer.
