Information for Faculty

Faculty will robe in the Faculty Robing Room in Fifth Third Arena. If you rented regalia, it will be available in the Faculty Robing Room beginning 90 minutes prior to the ceremony. When the ceremony is over, simply return your regalia to the same room.

If you are robing in the Faculty Room Room, enter Fifth Third Arena at the Dabney Entrance (lower northwest corner).  Volunteers will be on hand to guide you.

All faculty are invited to enjoy light refreshments in the Faculty Robing Room.

Faculty Roles at Commencement

Faculty Attending

Faculty who RSVP that they plan to attend the ceremony. Regalia is worn with this role. These faculty will:

  • Robe in the Faculty Robing Room in Fifth Third Arena.
  • Process in to the arena following the President’s Processional Party.
  • Sit in the designated faculty seating area.

Faculty Hooding Doctoral Graduates

Faculty who are hooding Doctoral graduates on stage. Regalia is worn with this role. These faculty will:

  • Robe in the Faculty Robing Room in Fifth Third Arena.
  • Report to the Doctoral Check in/Line up to mingle with graduates.
  • Process in to the arena and sit with the graduate(s) they are hooding.
  • Hood their graduate(s) on stage.
  • Return to the graduate seating area for the remainder of the ceremony.

Faculty Marshals (Undergraduate)

Faculty who are selected by their college to participate as a marshal. Regalia is worn with this role. These faculty will:

  • Robe in the Faculty Robing Room in Fifth Third Arena.
  • Report to the Undergraduate Check in/Line up to mingle with graduates.
  • Process in to the arena with the graduates and sit with the graduates.
  • Congratulate graduates as they walk to the stage (instructions will be sent prior to ceremony).
  • Return to the graduate seating area for the remainder of the ceremony.

Faculty Volunteers

Faculty who sign up to volunteer through an advertised opportunity or by contacting the Commencement Office directly. Regalia is not needed for this role.
