Grad Housing Move-in & Welcome Back

New Arrivals:
Your keys will be available for pick-up on or after your lease start date. 

People moving from one apartment to another:
You will receive separate communication based on your transition date.

Proceed to the Uptown Rentals office during their business hours to retrieve them.

Take the following steps to get into your apartment if you arrive after the Uptown Rentals Office is closed:

  • Make arrangements with your phone company so you can make US phone calls upon arrival.
  • Call the Resident Advisor (RA) on duty at 513-550-7260 when you arrive at the complex to get access to your apartment. Note that there is no office at the complex so you will not be able to reach an RA unless you call.
  • Keys can be picked up the next day at the Uptown Rentals office.

Take the following steps to get into your apartment if you arrive after the Uptown Rentals Office is closed:

  • Email our office in advance to let us know you will be arriving after office hours.  Be sure to include your apartment number.
  • Make arrangements with your phone company so you can make US phone calls upon arrival.
  • Call the Senator Place Resident Apartment Manager (RAM) on duty at 513-427-3934 when you arrive at the complex to get access to your apartment. Note that there is no office at the complex so you will not be able to reach a RAM unless you call.
  • Keys can be picked up the next day at the Uptown Rentals office.

 

 

There are two Resident Apartment Managers (RAMs) living on-site in Senator Place to assist graduate housing tenants with the transition to the University, city and graduate school as well as to serve as a resource. They are graduate students who are dedicated to making our complexes a welcoming place for graduate students. They participate in an on-call duty system and can be contacted after 5 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends, winter season days and University holidays.

In addition to the CDC guidelines, use the following steps to protect yourself and others from COVID-19 when moving:

  • Maintain social/physical distancing as much as possible during the unpacking and move-in processes.
  • Practice good hygiene—cover coughs, wash hands frequently and do not touch your face.
  • Wear a cloth facial covering.
  • Do not let people who are sick help you move.
  • Clean frequently touched surfaces which could harbor the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.

Keep your apartment and belongings safe:

  • Unprop doors.
  • Keep your apartment doors and windows locked at all times.  Close the blinds in the evening or when no one is in the apartment. 
  • Secure valuables, money and documents in a locked place.

You are STRONGLY encouraged, though not required, to obtain renter’s insurance. Uptown Rentals and the University of Cincinnati is not responsible for the damage or theft of your personal property. GradGuard is one company that provides both renters and tuition insurance.  Participation is not endorsed by the University of Cincinnati.

All UC-owned and leased properties are considered tobacco free.  This includes graduate housing.

Smoking and tobacco use, including chewing tobacco and electronic cigarettes, are prohibited by students, staff, faculty, visitors, vendors and contractors. Tobacco use is banned in all apartments, balconies, hallways, laundry rooms, parking lots, elevators and inside vehicles on the premises.

Anyone wishing to use tobacco needs to move to the area outside the complex perimeters using appropriate social distancing.

The Eden Grad studio units contain the following pieces of furniture:

  • Double bed XL (junior loft height)
  • Small end table
  • Two soft chairs that can be pushed together to make a couch
  • Dresser/desk combo
All furniture must be kept in the apartment.  Tenants will be responsible for replacement if furniture is lost or damaged.

Inspect your room thoroughly upon arrival. Call Uptown Rentals at 513-861-9394 to submit maintenance requests for issues that need to be addressed. Submit your room condition report, noting the condition of the apartment, appliances and furnishings.

Passes purchased from Parking Services can be picked up at Uptown Rentals. Make sure your pass is visibly hung from the rear view mirror when you are parked in the parking area for your complex.  Cars without passes may be subject to being towed from the lot after August 20.

Please review the mail and packages information on our Senator Place daily living page.  We are not able to provide a fully secure environment for the receipt of parcels at 222 Senator Place.  Packages are usually left outside, leaving them an easy target for theft.  You are encouraged to an alternate shipping location, especially for valuable items.
