Charrette: On-the-Ground for Social Justice

During September 17-19, 2004, University of Cincinnati Niehoff Urban Studio Students and Faculty participated with sixty other students and stakeholders in the "On-The-Ground" Design Charrette for Social Justice led by Miami University Center for Community Engagement and Architecture for Humanity. Participating faculty and architecture students traveled from as far as Pennsylvania State University and Harrisburg (PA) Community College to join local students and representative from a broad variety of citizen groups in Over-The-Rhine

The Niehoff Urban Studio hosted a team focused on Housing design north of Washington Park. Four other teams completed other projects including: Proposals for the School for Creative and Performing Arts; Design-Build Voting Booth; Design-Build Affordable Housing project; Representation of the local civil rights movement.
