This student's work borrows the concept of "genius loci" or spirit of the place developed by Norberg-Schultz. This allows a non-prescriptive approach and taps into the sense of place along the MLK-Madison corridor. He identified some patterns of urban development which he divided into the "American Urban," the "Cincinnati Urban," the "American Business Sterile," the "American Sub-urban," and the "Designer Neighborhood." Along the east-west connection of the corridor he identifies the north-south breaks in the urban form and how he personally experienced this journey with his senses by putting together some images of what you hear, smell, and see.
