Gabriel’s Place

Bird’s Eye View of Campus Design
In 2010 the Community Design Center partnered with the Cincinnati Community Action Agency, LISC, Place Matters - Do Right, Avondale Community Council and the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio for a community urban agriculture campus at the site of the St Michael’s and All Angels Church in Avondale. Known as Gabriel’s Place, the program consists of a community garden and composting site, a public market place, a community meeting space in the former sanctuary, and an education center in the former parish house. A new commercial scale kitchen in the parish house is designed for value-added food production, micro-enterprise support and job training in the culinary arts for neighborhood residents. The campus is scheduled for completion in spring of 2011.
