Proposed by former UC faculty member Juli Uhl (Biology), the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Journal Club supports members of UC’s teaching community who want to deepen their understanding of current trends and topics in research on teaching and learning by reading and discussing articles with colleagues from across the university. Articles are selected based on group interest with a new member facilitating discussion each meeting.
Some of the topics discussed during past meetings include in-class vs. at-home quizzes, language learning and technology, teaching strategies for large courses, and a randomized controlled trial of the efficacy of remedial vs. college-level math courses.
The group meets monthly and is open to graduate students. Old and new members are always welcome. Come join us for coffee, snacks, and a good conversation!
