Be Well UC: November is 'Take Care and Be Aware' Month

Take Care and Be Aware Month encourages you to take a moment to learn how to support yourself if you are acting as a caregiver, a role about 20 percent of the U.S. adult population takes on, according to the National Alliance for Caregiving.

There are incredible resources available for caregivers on the page, including a toolbox with resources, the Council on Aging in Southwestern Ohio’s resources, as well as information about our Employee Assistance Provider, Impact Solutions, which offers excellent help with Elder Care.

Because it’s Diabetes Awareness Month, Take Care and Be Aware Month also shares how important it is to know what to look out for and how to prevent the onset of diabetes, which affects 29 million Americans, with another 86 million categorized as pre-diabetics (American Diabetes Association). With complications related to skin and vision, kidney disease and heart disease all being related to diabetes, it’s important to do what we can to offset the impact.

Resources from the American Diabetes Association, WebMD, Mayo Clinic and CDC Diabetes are available for reference. You can only help others when you are helping yourself, so please take advantage of the resources provided on the website to make the best decisions for your health and for the ones you love.
