CCM welcomes Todd Pettiford as Assistant Dean of Student Services
An experienced administrator, Pettiford will work to deliver a comprehensive student experience
University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) Dean Stanley E. Romanstein welcomes Todd Pettiford to the position of Assistant Dean of Student Services at CCM. After meeting with CCM faculty, staff and students throughout the past month to transition into his new role, Pettiford officially joined CCM on Sept. 14, 2021.
The Assistant Dean for Student Services will work to ensure CCM students have 24/7 access to high-quality programs, resources and services. Pettiford will coordinate CCM’s academic advising program, connect students with college and university-level resources and evaluate CCM policies and processes to better serve the college’s undergraduate and graduate students.
Pettiford comes to CCM from Stanford University, where he served as the Assistant Dean of Students in the Graduate Life Office. While there, he worked to support a graduate community of 9,500 students by resolving personal, academic and community issues. Pettiford’s responsibilities included acting as a consultant, advisor and information liaison to academic advisors, faculty and staff in matters of academic progress conduct and well-being.
At Stanford, he also took leadership in the case management of student needs, supported and advised students who engaged in misconduct, represented the university in responding to emergencies (including serving on COVID-19 response committees) and helped students comprehend/interpret university policies. Prior to that, he served in several key administrative roles over the span of eight and a half years at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
A proud member of the performing arts community, Pettiford spent over 15 years as a working actor, performing in numerous Broadway, Off Broadway and National Tour productions, as well as commercials, voice overs and international performances. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Hampton University and Master of Education from James Madison University.
In this newly created role and as a member of the CCM Dean’s Leadership Council, Pettiford will work closely and collaboratively with CCM and UC constituents to deliver a comprehensive experience for students.
“Todd Pettiford will play a key role in our student-centric approach to life at CCM,” said Romanstein. “He is an excellent addition to our college’s leadership team. I want to thank our faculty search committee, which was chaired by Michele Kay and also included Tara Warden, Betty Anne Gottlieb, Michael Unger and Craig Bailey.”
