Education Reform Symposium: Dec. 7

Please join UC’s School of Education for an “Education Reform Symposium” on Wednesday, Dec. 7, from 4-6 p.m., in the Annie Laws Room (407 Teachers-Dyer Complex), where students will present their best ideas on education reform to a panel of state legislators, including Ohio State Representatives Adam Bird, Catherine Ingram, and- Sedrick Denson.

The symposium will be a presentation of data collected by students in the course “Save our Schools! Education Controversy and Reform,” taught by Professor Sarah Stitzlein, a philosopher of education in UC’s College of Education, Criminal Justice and Human Services.

The primary areas of focus will be on improving sex education considering recent rises in STD rates and changes in access to reproductive care, responding to parents’ rights to oversee curriculum, addressing proposed education bills in Ohio (HB 616) and arguing for more equitable school funding.
