Pandemic created change forcing medical students to adapt and thrive

The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine awarded 176 medical degrees during Honors Day, Sunday, May 23 in Fifth Third Arena. UC President Neville Pinto, UC Board of Trustees Chair Ronald Brown and Dean Andrew Filak, MD, of the College of Medicine offered remarks. Farzaan Kassam, a fourth-year medical student, was this year's class speaker.

It’s a match

Fourth-year medical students at the University of Cincinnati celebrated Match Day 2021 with social media posts, facetime visits, texts and calls to family and friends. UC had 174 matched students who now know where they will spend the next three to seven years completing a medical residency. They will be the future doctors of Cincinnati and beyond.

Before the OR, students get more anatomy practice

Charles Prestigiacomo, MD, created the Advanced Anatomy of the Head and Neck elective, offered to fourth-year students at the UC College of Medicine who are getting ready to match in surgical residencies and begin performing procedures on patients. He and colleagues are seeing how this class is better preparing students to begin their careers with a little more “real-life” practice.

UC medical students ready for a match

Match Day, Friday, March 19, is the culmination of four years of hard work for medical students at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Fourth-year medical students will learn where they will spend the next three to seven years of medical residency training. This year's festivities look a little different because of COVID-19.
