State Department Forum Features World View on U.S. Policy
What is the current feeling among the rest of the world about the United States, its war on terror and how it projects its power as world leader?
A special U.S. State Department-sponsored program that will bring 19 distinguished foreign guests to the University of Cincinnati College of Law on Friday, Jan. 31, will offer an excellent opportunity to gain a world-view without ever leaving middle America.
Human Rights and Security is a half-day forum hosted by UCs Urban Morgan Institute for Human Rights and the universitys political science department. The program begins at 1 p.m. in Room 118 of the College of Law.
A full rundown on participants and topics can be found at http://www.law.uc.edu/morgan/newsdir/state030131/index.html
Guests from four continents, including government officials, journalists, academics and human rights activists, will join with a panel of seven expert UC faculty to discuss a number of topics related to U.S. foreign policy, including Iraq, North Korea and the issue of rights for immigrants and enemy combatants when facing the U.S. justice system.
The group is coming to UC as part of the U.S. Department of State International Visitor Project. Locally, they are being hosted by the International Visitors Council in Cincinnati.
This is the only Midwest stop on a cross-country tour planned for the group.
