Law Prof Earns Ohio Bar's Statewide Teaching Award
Michael Solimine of the University of Cincinnati's College of Law faculty has been selected to receive the Ohio State Bar Association's Law Teacher Award for Outstanding Contributions to Ohio Law and to the Ohio Bar.
Solimine, the Donald P. Klekamp Professor of Law at the college, was recognized for years of respected and original work in areas including procedure and jurisdiction. He also has a lengthy service list of contributions he has made to legal education efforts in Ohio.
Solimine has earned glowing praise from colleagues around the country. Said David Shapiro, the William Nelson Cromwell Professor of Law at Harvard Law School, "Although Professor Solimine has been teaching and writing at Cincinnati for less than 15 years, his productivity throughout that period has been extraordinary. The range of his scholarship has been wide and deep, focusing on (but certainly not limited to) the fields of American federalism, state-federal judicial relations and constitutional law."
Solimine's work has been cited hundreds of times in major law journals and law school casebooks. He has authored three books on the law and been published in many of the top law journals.
At UC, he was awarded the 1991 Goldman Award for Teaching Excellence. He has also demonstrated his commitment to the students by heading the College of Law's judicial extern program and serving as faculty advisor to the UC Law Review.
