ROTC Hosts Talk On Operations In Iraq
WHAT: "A Candid Discussion about Military Operations in Iraq"

GUEST SPEAKER: Colonel James Greer, Commander, 1st Armored Training Brigade
Colonel James Greer, a West Point graduate, currently commands the single largest training Brigade in the U.S. Army at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Greer was dispatched to Iraq by former U.S. Army Chief of Staff General Eric Shinseki to chronicle the offensive into Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Greers duties involved producing the official history of the effort, based on interviews of hundreds of military personnel ranging in rank from private to general.
Greer will present information detailing the offensive and will provide insight into ongoing efforts occurring there now. There will be a question and answer period following his presentation.
Greer commanded the First Battalion, 77th Armored Regiment, serving in NATO's Peacekeeping Mission in Bosnia-Herzogovina. His most recent staff assignment was as the chief of the Balkans Branch of the Joint Staff J-5 (Strategy, Plans and Policy) in the Pentagon. Most recently, Greer served as director of the School of Advanced Military Studies at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kan. He has been published in Military Review and The Armor Journal. He received a masters degree in education from Long Island University and a masters degree in military strategy from the National War College.
